Isles of Scilly golfers beat Cape Cornwall

June 5, 2019

The Isles of Scilly’s golfers triumphed in their recent competition against a mainland club.

On Saturday June 1st, Cape Cornwall Golf Club visited Scilly for the April Cottage Cup, which was presented to the islands in 1997 by Bernie House to establish a regular challenge between the two clubs.

Six pairs of golfers played a 4 ball match play with the islanders winning five matches. The other was a draw.

It is hoped that a return match will take place later this year.

Scilly’s Club captain Dave Stone thanked the volunteers who gave their time to "make sure the course was in the best condition so far this year", as well as stewards John Bird and Sarah Twynham for a "great buffet lunch".
