Parents, friends, staff and children from St Martin's joined together last weekend to give the outside of their school a revamp.
Five Islands Academy Base leader Jackie Marshall said she has been wanting to tidy up the outside for a while as it was looking "tired and overgrown".
She told This is Scilly News that she was keen for it to be an area the children could enjoy and take responsibility for.
After an unsuccessful application for funding from the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, Jackie decided to put out a plea to the local community for help.
Some 20 adults and all the children from reception and years 1, 2 and 3 answered the call and gathered on Sunday to do their bit.
They now have a runner bean wigwam in an old tractor tyre and new pallet furniture, while the bank has been cut down and replaced with rock flower beds. Meanwhile, the Wendy House has a new lease of life after getting a lick of paint.
Jackie said: "It was such a great community feeling and really lovely to see everyone there even though it was chucking it down when we started. But the sun came out and there was a great atmosphere."
She added that the group now have a "great vision to carry it on", with many helpers saying they would be happy to return for a repeat performance at a later date.
