Pharmacy warns of vomiting, diarrhoea outbreak
The Isles of Scilly Pharmacy has warned that the islands have been 'hit hard' by diarrhoea and vomiting.
Staff have issued advice on how to stay hydrated, saying that the elderly and very young are the most at risk.
The Pharmacy posted on social media: "Diarrhoea and vomiting has hit the islands hard! Please ensure that adequate hand washing takes place before eating or handling food, and after visiting the bathroom, and supervise children's hand washing.
"There is little that can be done to treat it, but it is very important to ensure you stay hydrated! We have restocked with rehydration sachets (these are the same as dioralyte, but non-branded, so cheaper!), and recommend eating little and often.
"Those especially vulnerable to dehydration include the very young and elderly, and those on medication. Please get in touch if you wish to discuss your symptoms or for further advice."
The Pharmacy on St Mary's was recently recognised for its work promoting healthy lifestyles among residents.
