The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group has apologised after a container of luggage meant to go to Penzance on today’s Scillonian was left on St Mary’s quay.
Irate islanders have been sharing their frustration about the situation on social media, describing chaotic scenes on Penzance quay.
The company has now said that it is working hard to get luggage back to those affected as soon as possible.
A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a container of passenger luggage was left behind on St Mary’s Quay tonight, Monday 22nd April.
"Our teams on Penzance Quay have worked closely with our passengers and have accommodated all that needed assistance.
"Tomorrow, Skybus will operate additional freighters first thing in the morning to ensure luggage is repatriated with customers a soon as we can.
"For customers who have decided not to stay locally, we will be couriering luggage back to our customers as soon as possible.
"We are very sorry for this situation and are working our hardest to resolve this issue."
