Mali Rose cancelled due to compass failure
The Mali Rose was unable to sail as planned today due to a mechanical issue.
The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group reported that there was a failure with the ship's satellite compass and she was unable to make the journey without one.
Engineers have now sourced a part and it is being couriered down to Penzance and replaced tomorrow. The vessel will aim to sail tomorrow afternoon if the situation is resolved.
The Scillonian is also being loaded with Co-op and other supplies.
The Steamship Group told freight customers: "Our teams are doing their very best to manage the problem and get the operation back to scheduled service as safely as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused at this time."
The Mali Rose is still undergoing a three-month familiarisation period, with the Gry Maritha due to return to service at the end of this month.
