Tresco offers Spa Days to islanders living with cancer
Tresco Island has invited Isles of Scilly residents living with cancer to enjoy a regular Spa Day on the island.
Members of the Scilly C-Siders support group will be able to enjoy a monthly day of rest and relaxation in the Tresco Island Spa facilities.
Scilly C-Siders is a self-help group that supports anyone resident on the Isles of Scilly living with cancer. The group, supported by Macmillan Cancer Support, provides the chance for those affected by cancer to meet and support one another, have fun and share concerns.
Tom Matthews, Head of Marketing on Tresco Island, said: “I spotted a Facebook post from the Scilly C-Siders saying how much their members had enjoyed a day at Tresco Island Spa. I immediately knew this was one small thing we could do to help.
“We all know someone affected by cancer, and nowhere is that more true than in a small, tight-knit community like Scilly.
“It is often so hard to know how best to help someone living with Cancer and the Scilly C-Siders group does the best thing by getting people together to help and support each other. If we as an island can do something small to help by providing a day out to rest, recuperate and recharge, then we’re proud to do just that.”
Members of the group will be invited to a monthly spa day on Tresco where they can enjoy access to the indoor pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room.

Lou Simpson from Scilly C-Siders said: “We recently enjoyed a day out at Tresco Island Spa, funded by The Police Chiefs Charity. A few days later, having shared pictures on social media, we were surprised to hear from Tom, asking if we would like to make this a regular day out for our members, supported by Tresco Island.
“We were all amazed and a little in shock at such a kind gesture. It is so lovely that, at such a difficult time, people reach out and do what they can to help those living with cancer.
“We hope events like this will help us reach out and be there for those on the off-islands as well, who may benefit hugely from time spent with others who can relate to their experiences."
