Scilly has 70% top food hygiene ratings
Some 70% of Scilly businesses have received the highest possible food hygiene score.
The Council reported in February that it is up to date with food safety inspections for the first time in its history.
Senior Manager for Strategic Development Nicola Stinson said the situation has strongly improved in recent years.
She told last week's Tourism Forum: "The Which? report last year quoted some figures from 2016 that Scilly's businesses were the eighth worst in the country in terms of their food hygiene rating. 70% of businesses are now getting scored at 5 and we're hoping to get up to 90% this year.
"Alongside the new Scilly Standard, our Environmental Health people are thinking not about enforcement but about how we help you so they're looking at healthy choices, [maybe] bringing a national accreditation scheme in to help businesses prove they are providing good nutritious for people who come to visit as well as residents. And I think it's that working in partnership that is so important here, that we're there to help, support and advise. That's the culture that we're trying to embed within the Council."
