Airport taxi parking 'may go up by 20%'
The cost of taxi parking bays at the airport could go up by 20% next month.
A proposal to increase the annual fee to £503.71 per bay from April 1st is currently with the Chairman of Council and Section 151 officer.
Members previously agreed to start charging for general car parking at the airport by the end of 2017, including the introduction of a ticket machine. However, the new policy is not yet in place.
Policy & Scrutiny Officer Bob Dawson gave an update on the car parking charges issue in his report ahead of Tuesday’s Scrutiny Committee meeting, which has now been postponed.
He wrote: "Legal advice has been received from Cornwall Council over the past 12 months and a meeting is planned to resolve the car parking charge issue, given the Isles of Scilly is not in a Civil Enforcement Area and in the context of available options under contract law and the Road Traffic Regulation Order 1984."
