Panto return 'Mother Goose' delights audiences

February 11, 2019

The return of pantomime to the Isles of Scilly was a hit last weekend.

St Mary’s Theatre Club staged its new show Mother Goose in front of delighted audiences on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

The Club has had to scrap its annual winter production for the last four years as the Town Hall stage has been out of use.

However, this year members were determined to put on a show and were given permission to use the performance hall at Five Islands Academy.

The main cast included Theatre Club regulars Becky Hicks, Linda Thomas, Tim Dean, Julia Grottick and Jacky Pritchard.

There were also some fresh faces on stage, with new Sylina owners Jeremy Brown and Kate Hale on top form as the Dame and Linda's dippy sidekick Ben, as well as a regal turn by Barbara Duncan as the Goose Queen.

Meanwhile, Noah Osborne and Sienna Hathway provided the youthful romance as Jack and Jill, equipped with a pail of water.

The show was written and directed by Jon Mackenzie, and produced by Theatre Club chair Linda Thomas.

Linda previously described the run up to performance weekend as "a bit of a nightmare"
