Scilly energy tariff provider ceases trading
The provider of the Isles of Scilly's new energy tariff has ceased trading.
Residents have been able to sign up to an energy deal specific to the islands' postcodes through Our Power as part of the Smart Islands Programme.
Delivery of the tariff is part of the work of the new Isles of Scilly Community Venture, which was launched to share the benefits of a range of projects with the community of islanders and businesses.
Jim Wrigley, General Manager of the Community Venture, said of the news: "We are very sad to announce that we have been informed today that Our Power have ceased trading.
"If you are an IoS Energy Share customer with Our Power, you do not need to worry, your electricity supply is secure and any credit balances are protected. Ofgem will now be in the process of appointing a new supplier and their advice is to sit tight and not to try to switch until the new supplier has been appointed.
"We will be working hard over the coming months to create a new electricity tariff for the Isles of Scilly and will keep our facebook page and website updated with information."
