Five Islands School becomes an Academy
The Five Islands School has now converted to an Academy.
It formally joined with Mounts Bay Academy in the Leading Edge Academies Partnership at midnight on January 1st after several delays.
Interim Executive Board director Jackie Eason wrote in a letter to parents in December: "Both schools have been working so closely together over the past 18 months and this formalising of the relationship is another big step forward.
"Enormous thanks to all Mounts Bay staff for your contribution to our school over this period, particularly to Sara Davey, Jo Yeates, Andrew Harvey and Claire Drew. I’d like to thank you all for your patience during this long and challenging process."
She added: "You’re all aware that it hasn’t been easy, but all parties have shown incredible endurance and commitment to finally get this over the line, none more so than Keith Grossett from the LA."
The IEB ceased to exist on the conversion date. Canon Perran Gay, Phil Rowe and Jackie will remain in place as Trustees of the Multi-Academy Trust but will be looking to appoint a new local chair and elect a committee.
