St Mary's chandlery looking for new owner

December 12, 2018

The chandlery on St Mary's is looking for a new owner.

Chris Jenkins of Southard Engineering has announced that he is to cease trading from the Thorofare premises after 15 years.

He wrote in an email to customers: "After careful consideration and with the increasing demand for outboard engineering services I have decided to cease trading at the chandlery.

"I am actively looking for someone else to take this over, and I very much hope that by early spring 2019, we will continue to have a chandlery service on St Mary's."

He said that he will be continuing to trade as normal from the workshop and yard at Porthloo in the New Year, "increasing and improving our outboard motor and boatyard related services".

He added: "In the interim anticipated chandlery takeover period, I will be delighted to help with any items required if you would like to give me a ring or drop me a quick email.

"I cannot thank you enough for all the support and help given over the years. In this time it has allowed John and I to not only to keep in touch with so many great friends, and people in the islands, but it has also given us the opportunity to meet so many great new ones much further afield."
