Mals vow to fight back after Islands defeat
The Mal de Mers have predicted a "resounding victory" over the islands in 2019 after they were beaten by four points this year.
Scilly scored 13 to the Mals' 9 in the annual week of sporting competition, which marked 86 years since the mainland club's first visit.
Mals 'Organizator' Jeremy Chadwick told The Cornishman: "As ever, the hospitality and enthusiasm towards the Mals displayed by the Islanders was hugely appreciated by all, and the three new boys among us were able to grasp the unique nature of this annual trip.
"We were disappointed to miss our cricket match against Tresco due to the local triathlon event that day, but with extra-curricular events such as the swimming club from the St Agnes sand-bar (over 20 Mals took to the ‘nippy’ water), the Karaoke sing-off in the Bishop & Wolf ('Amarillo' as you’ve never heard it), the spontaneous sealife safari rib-ride and not forgetting some fantastic drone pictures and video footage taken, it once again added up to a hugely enjoyable and memorable trip."
He added: "With the spirit of the Mals alive and well, we’re already looking forward to our return in 2019. There’s also promise of many fit and talented new boys in the pipeline, all to help deliver us a resounding victory across the sporting spectrum next year."
