Hell Bay Hotel wins AA Red Star Award

Hell Bay Hotel on Bryher was given four AA Red Stars at Monday's AA Awards.

Hell Bay was one of just eight hotels across the UK to receive the Red Star Award this year and the only one in Cornwall to receive four Red Stars.

The awards were handed out at the 21st annual ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on September 24th.

Each year the best hotels within each AA star rating are selected by inspectors to receive the Red Star Award. The chosen hotels are known as ‘Inspectors’ Choice’ hotels are recognised to be the best in the British Isles.

Hell Bay was assessed on a variety of factors from smartly presented and well-trained staff to the quality of the accommodation and public areas and facilities.

Manager Philip Callan said: “It is an enormous honour to receive the AA Red Star award - it truly is a testament to the whole team here at Hell Bay, who work tirelessly to ensure guests of the hotel experience seamless, attentive service while staying on the peaceful and memorable island of Bryher.”

Hell Bay Hotel held a Four Star AA Hotel rating prior to this new accolade, as well as a 3 AA Rosette rating for its food offering.

It also achieved Gold status within the Small/Boutique Hotel of the Year category at February's South West Tourism Excellence Awards and was this week shortlisted in the same category in the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

There are now 68 hotels in the UK that hold four Red Stars and 58 that hold five Red Stars, including The Savoy Hotel and The Ritz in London.
