Scilly businesses urged to enter Sustainability Awards
An Isles of Scilly Councillor has urged businesses on Scilly to enter the Cornwall Sustainability Awards.
The 16th annual awards celebrate the 'people, projects and organisations who are delivering environmental growth'.
Jonathan Smith, who is the Council's Board member on the Local Nature Partnership, said: "The Cornwall Sustainability Awards are recognised in Cornwall as giving a platform to environmental leaders, whether that be businesses, individuals, organisations or projects.
"What is perhaps less well known is that these Awards are open to businesses on Scilly too, yet we have had very few entries from the islands. There is a lot of great stuff going on over here, so I would really encourage people to enter - it doesn't cost anything, so why not? You can nominate yourself and/or someone else.
"On Scilly we are full partners of the Local Nature Partnership (LNP), which is trying to push environmental growth and biodiversity enhancement up the agenda in local decision making.
"The LNP is instrumental in these awards and, as part of its drive to be more inclusive with Scilly, would love to see more entries from our community here."
The deadline for applications is Monday October 15th, with the awards ceremony taking place at the Headland Hotel in Newquay on November 30th.
