Islanders encouraged to learn their heart age

September 6, 2018

The Isles of Scilly Pharmacy is encouraging islanders to find out how old their heart is this month.

Staff are taking part in Public Health England’s latest campaign, which aims to raise awareness of heart health.

The campaign urges people to complete the new 'One You' Heart Age Test, which lets users know how old their heart is (in comparison to their physical age) in under three minutes. It also provides tips on how they can lower their heart age and reduce their risk of heart attack and stroke.

The test can be done at https://www.nhs.uk/…/nhs-health-…/check-your-heart-age-tool/ .

The Isles of Scilly Pharmacy said on social media: “Follow the link to work out your heart age. If you are not happy with your result, call in to discuss how to tackle it!”

Factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, as well as smoking, poor diet, lack of exercise and excessive drinking, can increase a person’s risk of developing heart disease.
