Larry and George Lamb's Scilly visit on TV this week

UPDATE: This is on Friday August 17th, not 10th as originally reported.

The Isles of Scilly features in the third episode of the new series of Britain By Bike on Friday.

The six-episode second series sees actor Larry Lamb and his TV presenter son George travel across Britain from Scilly to the Outer Hebrides by bike.

They filmed on the islands in early May in time for the World Pilot Gig Championships.

George, who presented Big Brother's Little Brother on Channel 4 for two years until 2010 and now hosts Football Tonight on BT Sport, said that the pair had always wanted to visit Scilly.

He told the Daily Express: "It’s everything you hope it would be. It’s a little slice of the Caribbean, but just off the coast of Britain.

"The pace is so slow and calm. It’s as stress free as anywhere I’ve been."

Larry and George also told the Daily Mail that the Isles of Scilly was the ""standout location" on their trip.

Larry, who who has appeared in EastEnders, Gavin & Stacey, New Tricks and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, said: "It’s heaven. I genuinely felt it was a little tropical paradise."

The synopsis for the Scilly episode reads: 'The pair load their bikes on to the Paddington-Penzance sleeper train, and after taking a ferry across the Celtic sea, head to the Isles of Scilly. Star Castle, a fortress on St Mary's, built in Elizabethan times in the shape of a star, is their bed for the night.

'The next morning, George discovers the delights of Tresco Abbey Gardens, a world-famous botanical garden, while Larry helps deliver the mail with one of the UK's last cycling posties. The final day coincides with the World Gig Rowing Championship, which draws rowing teams from as far away as the USA and the Netherlands.'

Britain By Bike is on Channel 5 on Friday at 8pm.
