Isles of Scilly residents can now sign up to the islands' own unique energy tariff.
The Isles of Scilly Community Venture has partnered with not-for-profit energy supplier Our Power, who will provide a competitive, local energy deal just for the Isles of Scilly - the “IoS Energy Share tariff”.
Later in 2018 the Community Venture plans that Energy Share customers will also benefit by purchasing a share of their electricity used from locally generated solar energy. Looking to the future, they plan to cut bills by reducing the amount and cost of the energy Scilly residents use.
This unique energy deal for the Isles of Scilly Community offers:
A low-cost variable tariff with standard, Economy 7 and Economy 10 options
Excellent UK customer service
No exit fees, leaving you in control
Simple, stress-free switching process
Coming soon – locally generated solar energy as part of our energy mix
Energy share is an energy deal that will allow the supply of locally generated electricity to local people. The Isles of Scilly Community Venture aims to work with the Smart Islands programme and develop projects that will help lower energy use, lower energy costs and increase locally generated energy for the Islands. Any economic benefits from these projects that can be developed over the coming years will be shared through this deal with Isles of Scilly residents to help keep energy costs as low as possible.
Our Power is an independent energy supply company with a mission to make energy supply fairer and more affordable. It was one of the first energy suppliers to be set up to operate on a non-profit distribution basis in the UK. It’s not for profit status means that any surplus generated by the business is reinvested in its customers and in keeping their bills as low as possible. Our Power has delivered tariffs for other communities such as the Hebrides and Bath & North East Somerset.
The Isles of Scilly Community Venture has been set up as a Community Interest Company with the purpose of sharing the benefits of projects taking place in 2018 and the coming years. By working in partnership with Our Power, who share many of its values, it will develop the means through the Energy Share tariff to allow this sharing to take place with a plan to reduce energy bills for islanders over time.
Residents wishing to sign up to the tariff or for further information should visit www.ioscv.co.uk/energyshare .
The Smart Islands programme on the Isles of Scilly is included in the Government’s Industrial Strategy, which was published in November 2017.
