Visiting choir raises £850 for Scilly Wildlife Trust

A mainland choir raised £850 for the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust (IOSWT) on a visit to the islands last month.

InTune, "a modern ladies choir rehearsing in three locations across Cornwall", performed three free events on Scilly because the Choir Mistress was so impressed with the Trust's work.

IOSWT Communications officer Nikki Banfield explained in the charity's latest newsletter: “Choir Mistress Amy Sapwell attended one of our rockpooling sessions with her family in 2017 on Bryher. At the end she said that she thought the work of the Trust across the islands was so fantastic that she would like to arrange for her choir to put on some fundraising performances in aid of the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust. These plans came to fruition in the first week of April 2018.”

Amy arrived on the islands with just under 40 members.

Nikki wrote on Facebook: “These amazing ladies have all paid their own way to get to and stay on the Islands; they've endured a pretty bad journey on the Scillonian, been delayed getting to the Islands by a day at the start and are now delayed by a day going home and ALL of the money that they have raised has been donated to the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust!?… Thank you! And thank you all who came to listen.”

InTune's performances at St Mary's Parish Church, St Agnes Hall and Juliet’s Garden raised a total of £847.03 for the Trust.
