Islanders asked to be careful with water use
Isles of Scilly residents have been advised that we are entering a "period of very high water consumption across the islands".
Councillor Robert Francis, Lead Member for Place, passed on various tips for conserving water in his report for tomorrow's Annual Council meeting.
He said: "The water operations team work incredibly hard, particularly through the tourist season, to ensure that there is a sufficient supply of drinking water for the customers on Bryher and St Mary's and at times it is a considerable challenge.
"Water is a precious resource and there is not a never ending supply, which sometimes can get forgotten when it just comes out of the taps on demand.
"The team ask that customers are extremely careful with their water use to ensure that everyone has access to drinking water when they require it and without the need for restrictions."
The Council has published a leaflet on conserving water that can be displayed in hotels and guesthouses.
