Islander wins Young Business Person award
A St Agnes resident has been named Young Business Person of the Year at the Cornwall Business Awards.
Aiden Hicks from Westward Farm beat two other finalists at the 13th annual awards at St Mellion International Resort last night.
His wife Grace Windridge-Hicks posted a photo (left) on Twitter, writing: "He only went and won!!!"
Westward Farm last year started producing and selling its own gin. It also has holiday lets, makes apple juice and cider, and produces a range of products from soaps to beef under its '28 Miles' label.
The Cornwall Business Awards, organised by Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth and Skills Hub and presented by Cornwall Development Company, are a "celebration of innovation, achievement and entrepreneurial spirit within the Cornish business community".
Stu Anderson of the Growth and Skills Hub said: “A huge and heartfelt congratulations to all of the winning businesses. It is these businesses that are putting Cornwall on the map and adding weight to the burgeoning reputation for innovation, creativity and excellence for which the region is increasingly synonymous."
