Sergeant Mary Ross leaves Scilly police

April 9, 2018

Sergeant Mary Ross has left the Isles of Scilly Police after retiring from the force.

Sgt Ross replaced previous sergeant Colin Taylor in August 2016 in a posting expected to last two years.

Devon and Cornwall Police told This is Scilly: "PS Ross has retired from the police service. We are in the process of identifying a suitable successor for PS Ross, who did really good job whilst she was there. We will update the community once a new Sergeant has been announced.

"In the meantime the policing team on the Isles of Scilly is being supported by attachments of sergeants from the mainland. This is in addition to 24/7 support from the response sergeants at Penzance."

Sgt Ross previously lived on Scilly between 1990 and 1997 with her husband, the Customs Officer Len Smith, and two daughters. She joined the police force after leaving the islands and spent the next 20 years in roles across Cornwall.
