St Agnes pupils raise £425 for Sport Relief

Pupils from St Agnes school have raised £425 by cycling five miles in fancy dress.

Nine children, aged between 4 and 11, rode scooters and bikes up and down the island to raise money for Sport Relief yesterday (March 29th).

Sanchia (11), Keesan (11), Solly (10), Austin (9), Sylvie (9), Inigo (8), Joss (7), Aaron (6) and Thea (4) completed the challenge with teachers Maddy, Grace and Emily.

The school's Justgiving fundraising page states: "St Agnes school is the most South Westerly school in the UK, located on the tiny Isles of Scilly. While we are only 8 children, we are determined to do our bit to make a difference.

"We will be cycling (or scooting) 5 miles around our island, performing the 2018 sports relief song and baking cakes to raise money for sports relief this year."

Teacher Maddy Goudsmit told This is Scilly after the ride: "We did it! Still counting - but we definitely raised over £350 - amazing small people!" She later confirmed the final amount.

Tresco and Bryher students took part in a sponsored cycle around Tresco on March 20th, raising money for Canine Partners for Independence.
