Islanders invited to help decide summer play
UPDATE: Event postponed due to weather.
St Mary’s Theatre Club has invited islanders to an evening of play readings tonight to decide on its summer production.
Anyone interested in being involved is asked to meet at the Scillonian Club’s Lyonesse bar at 7pm.
The plays under consideration include It's On, It's Off by Ray Lawrence, The Ladybirds by Tony Layton, Rude Awakenings by Nicolas Ridley, The Killing of Sister George by Frank Marcus, and The Haunted Through Lounge and Recessed Dining Nook at Farndale Castle by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr.
Club Secretary Jenny Byers said: "Even if you do not want to perform, you may enjoy a night out reading some of the parts. You may even want to produce one of the plays, or help with sets or props."
Last year, the Club put on four One Act Plays from its annual festival, which this year takes place on May 13th.
St Mary's Theatre Club has been unable to produce a pantomime for the last three years because the Town Hall stage has been out of use.
However, 2016 summer play In The Pink (above) - which was performed 'in the round' - was one of its most acclaimed.
