Police seek witnesses to St Mary's brawl

February 18, 2018

Isles of Scilly Police are looking for witnesses to a "disturbance" on St Mary's in the early hours of this morning.

PC Richard Wiltshire told This is Scilly that the incident, between 1am and 2am, involved a group of males and resulted in injuries. It spanned various locations, principally The Strand, Hugh Street and The Bank.

Police would also like hear if anyone noticed the disturbance brewing in the hours leading up to 1am.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police Station on 01720 422444.

In other police news, November's Gun Amnesty resulted in approximately seven firearms being handed in, most in a state of disrepair.

"We had a couple of nice historic guns like Enfield rifles given in. They had been decommissioned, but still good that people handed them in," said PC Wiltshire.

He stressed that although the Knife Amnesty runs out today, people can hand in weapons at any time.

Elsewhere, PC Wiltshire said the winter has "ticked along" with mainly petty, unnecessary crimes such as damage to vehicles. Police are now gearing up for the summer.
