The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group has said it has been "greatly encouraged" by the response to its call for islanders to join a new forum.
The Steamship Advisory Board (SAB) will consist of eight or more members and will act as a forum "in which the Group can discuss its services, performance and planned projects, as well as a place to build deeper understanding and trust with service users".
Steamship Group chairman Andrew May said: "We have been greatly encouraged by the volume of applications to join the Steamship Advisory Board. We are now entering the second phase of the selection process identified by the nominations committee and we anticipate confirming the Board’s first tranche of appointments to the SAB shortly.
"Those applicants not appointed to the inaugural SAB will have the opportunity of being appointed at a later date as part of the SAB’s natural rotation."
The first SAB meeting is expected to be held on St Mary’s on March 15th.
