Two Isles of Scilly firemen have received Long Service Medals.
Watch Managers Kevin James from St Mary’s and Richard Hobbs from Tresco received the awards in recognition of 20 years’ service and good conduct.
The news was revealed by Station Officer Declan Risdale in an update in which he thanked everyone involved in the Fire & Rescue Service for their "commitment and work in keeping our islands safe".
He went on to say that the Service has had a "relatively quiet year" with the exception of the blaze at Peninnis Farm and the "great fire of Gugh".
However, he added: "Both of these incidents have tested the resilience and resources of the Service and I am impressed with how the teams have responded."
Declan continued: "We will soon begin our winter training programme, so you may see us out and about on St Mary’s with a team of recruits taking part in their initial training course. This lasts for one week and is designed to cover the basic skills required to be part of an operational crew."
He also reminded residents that the Service carries out free home fire safety checks and can provide smoke and carbon monoxide alarms where necessary.
