The Health Centre on St Mary's has been given an outstanding rating in its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
An announced focused inspection was carried out on September 27 'to follow up on information we received and to confirm the practice had continued to meet legal requirements and to identify additional improvements made since our last inspection'.
A comprehensive inspection was previously carried out on April 28 2015, also resulting in an overall rating of outstanding.
Following its latest visit, the CQC rated the practice as outstanding in its four domains of 'responsive', 'caring', 'effective' and 'well led', while the 'safe' domain was rated good.
Senior Supervising GP John Garman said of the news: “We are delighted that we have maintained our outstanding status awarded by the CQC, especially since it was only two years ago that we were last inspected. It was a pretty tough and thorough inspection, so to have been able to demonstrate that our services have continued to improve since our last inspection is particularly pleasing.
"All credit needs to go to the staff at the Health Centre, who work tirelessly to make sure we provide the best service we can for patients. It was also nice to have had one of our off-island surgeries inspected on St Martins, so that the CQC can really see what makes our service unique among General Practice."
He added: "Needless to say, this rating doesn’t mean we can afford to stand still however - it was noted in the inspection that we always listen to feedback to enable us to continue to improve our services, so we will continue to do just that.”
