Weather expected to stay dry for Bryher fete
Tomorrow is expected to be dry and sunny for Bryher's Fete and inaugural Music Festival.
The island will host its annual fete between 1pm and 3.45pm, followed immediately by the music festival.
The event raises money for the ongoing upkeep of the community centre, which is open to the public.
Issy Tibbs, one of the organisers, said: "It's a vital facility for islanders and visitors and provides wet weather entertainment including soft play, pool, table tennis, toys and games. However, the money also goes towards other projects on the island. This year we bought the traditional phone box from BT and we are consulting over what to do with it. We've got some brilliant ideas so what this space!"
On the decision to introduce a music festival this year, she added: "We have a lot of people interested in music and we wanted to make sure the event is as good as it can be. It's also a celebration of local food with fresh lobster and paella and pizzas on sale."
Next up is Tresco Fete & Fun Day (August 13th), St Martins Fete (August 20th) and the Garrison Sports & Music Festival on St Mary's (August 27th). Bank Holiday Monday (August 28th) also sees a return display by the Red Arrows.
