Recorded crime static, but violence rises

There were 117 reported crimes on the Isles of Scilly in the 12 months from July 2016 to June 2017.

The figure is one less than the previous year, according to statistics just released by Devon & Cornwall Police.

Crimes in the category of 'violence against the person (not including domestic abuse)' rose by 65.1% from 13 to 21.

Burglaries are also slightly up, but vehicle offences more than halved, from 35 last year to 16. Other thefts rose from 26 to 32.

Crime rose 17.4% across the Devon & Cornwall force area, following the same rising trend as the whole of the UK.
