New Scilly doctor to start in August
The Isles of Scilly will have a new full-time doctor starting next month.
Dr Chris Picken will replace Dr John Garman as a resident GP.
Dr Garman will work his last day as full-time GP tomorrow (Friday, July 21st). However, he will continue as Senior Supervising GP at the Health Centre, visiting approximately every two weeks.
He will also retain his role as IOS clinical lead in the Clinical Commissioning Group.
From August, Scilly's three salaried GPs will be Dr Picken, Dr Ross and Dr Boulter.
In other staff news, practice nurse Gina Smith left earlier this month and has been replaced by midwife Andrea Hurst. Andrea joins fellow practice nurse Fran Clark and primary care paramedic Wayne Davey.
