Scilly to get new dentist next week

July 4, 2017

The Isles of Scilly is to have a new locum dentist from Monday, July 10.

Current dentist Monica Wu, who took on the role last year, will work her last shift on Friday.

Dental nurse Terri Monnereau told This is Scilly that Spanish locum Maria will be taking over for the next two to three months.

"As far as we know it's business as usual though hasn't been confirmed," she said.

"Maria will be taking on Monica's checkups and routine treatment. We have a list of people who need treatment done and as soon as we know what's happening, we will contact these people and get their treatment started and finished as soon as possible."

Service provider Smile Together previously offered assurances that the islands would not have a gap in dental provision as was the case before Monica took on the role.
