Theatre Club auditioning for summer production

St Mary's Theatre Club is calling for islanders to help with its summer production.

Although there will be no original play this year, the Club has decided to put on four One Act Plays from its annual festival.

The short plays are performed as rehearsed readings, so there is no need to learn lines.

Auditions will take place on Thursday May 25th at 6.45pm at the Pavilion by the Parish Church.

Club secretary Jenny Byers said: "Although many of the plays have a cast, a few people have left the islands and there are some vacancies, and a few people have rather a lot to do so may be happy to hand one of the roles over to someone else.

"All the plays are performed as rehearsed readings, with minimal staging and costumes, which makes them ideal for performing at different venues. For these to be professionally presented, despite not having to learn the words there will be a need for some rehearsals, and if auditioning please bear that in mind."

Aside from acting, volunteers are also needed for staging, front of house, props, sound and lighting, props and interval teas.

St Mary's Theatre Clubg has been unable to use the Town Hall stage for two years, causing it to also cancel its last two pantomimes.

However, last year's summer play In The Pink (above) - which was performed 'in the round' - was one of its most acclaimed.
