The swimming pool at Normandy is to close for two weeks from this Friday.
The closure is to allow for "staff training and cleaning and maintenance of the pool".
A press release from the Council of the Isles of Scilly reads: "Whilst the pool is closed, Active Scilly’s officers will be undertaking RLSS UK Trainer Assessor qualifications which will enable them to conduct mandatory swimming standards checks for one another.
"This staff development is essential to ensure that we can offer a safe and consistent service and reduce pool closures in future."
The training is necessary after the officer with the relevant qualifications resigned.
The closure will be in effect from Friday April 14th until Sunday April 30th.
The Council is currently recruiting for an Active Scilly Supervisor and Trainee, who will work as casual lifeguards.
The Authority asked for expressions of interest to operate the swimming pool and gym last December.
The future of Active Scilly is still uncertain, with an impact assessment due by the autumn.
