Pharmacy still seeing vomiting, diarrhoea cases
The Isles of Scilly Pharmacy has reiterated its advice on combating vomiting and diarrhoea in the wake of new cases.
Staff first warned of an outbreak at the end of last month, saying the islands had been 'hit hard'.
They posted an update on social media yesterday, writing: "We are still having fresh cases, so just want to reinforce and reiterate the advice.
"Most cases last 4 days, and are appropriate to treat with rehydration sachets and rest. Those affected should be encouraged to eat little and often if they feel they can. If you have any other symptoms, or any concerns, please feel free to ring us to discuss.
"To reduce the spread, ensure adequate hand washing after visiting the bathroom, before preparing food and before eating; supervising children's hand washing is advisable. Hot soapy water is best to clean hands; alcohol gel is not as good and should only be used if there is no access to hot soapy water.
"Ensure that anyone affected does not return to work/school/clubs for 48 hours after symptoms have passed, to minimise exposing others.”
