Gig heritage project to display at Town Hall
The Cornish Pilot Gig Association's heritage project will be on display in the Town Hall over Gig Weekend.
Pulling Together the Past aims to record irreplaceable historical data on pilot gig rowing for future generations.
Thousands of stories and photographs dating back to the 1920s have already been donated to the digital archive, which was launched last June.
They will be on display at the Town Hall between Friday May 3rd and Monday May 6th.
St Mary's Gig Club said: "Whether you are a new, current or former rower please drop in to see some of the brilliant information that has been pulled together so far. Even better, if you have something to contribute please get in touch with the project (via us) or drop in over the weekend."
Pulling Together the Past, which was awarded £5,000 from the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group’s Community Fund, is always on the lookout for documents or memorabilia people may have relating to the sport.
This year's official World Pilot Gig Championships merchandise is now available to pre-order on the AGAME website. It can also be bought from the pop up Gig shop at the Scilly Chandlery from Thursday May 2nd to Monday May 6th. Profits go to St Mary's Gig Club.
