Scilly Laughs confirms June lineup

The Scilly Laughs Comedy Festival has confirmed the lineup for its summer visit to the islands.

The show, billed as "the most South Westerly comedy festival in the UK", returns in June for the fifth consecutive year.

The 2019 lineup consists of David Mills, Charmian Hughes and Paul 'Silky' White, with Julie Jepson returning as compere.

David Mills is an established cabaret performer who won the New Act of the Year competition at the Hackney Empire in 2011 after turning to stand-up. He presents the podcast Focus People! and appeared as Augustus Corbin opposite Meryl Streep in the 2016 film Florence Foster Jenkins.

Charmian Hughes studied clowning before turning to stand-up comedy, performing at venues including The Comedy Store, Glastonbury Festival, prisons and the Houses of Parliament. She is described in a review by Steve Petworth on Chortle as having a persona "mixing between jolly-hockey-sticks enthusiasm with older woman battiness... Miriam Margolyes could probably play her in a film".

Paul 'Silky' White is a comedian, musician and club promoter from Liverpool. His TV appearances include The Stand-Up Show on BBC One.

Scilly Laughs will tour the islands from June 8th to 11th. The dates are as follows:

Saturday June 8th - St Mary’s (The Slip Inn at the Mermaid)

Sun June 9th - Tresco (Flying Boat Club)

Mon June 10th - St Martin’s (Adam’s Fish and Chips)

Tues June 11th - St Agnes (Island Hall).

Tickets cost £10 and are available on the door and from St Agnes Post Office.

Last year's event raised £519.50 from donations to Cornwall Air Ambulance.
