Travelodge considering hotel on Scilly

Travelodge is "actively looking" at opening a hotel on the Isles of Scilly.

The new Travelodge Camborne Redruth opened yesterday (December 5th), with a potential eight more to follow in the South West.

The chain also has hotels in Newquay, Hayle, Bodmin St Austell, Wadebridge and Saltash.

Gary Steele, Travelodge's South West Regional Director, is quoted in the Falmouth Packet as saying: “The Cornwall economy is growing at pace, and as the UK’s top staycation destination, visitor numbers are increasing year on year, however there is still a shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price.

"Therefore to meet this growing consumer demand, we are actively looking for hotel sites in the following locations: Bude, Falmouth, Isles of Scilly, Looe/Fowey, Newquay, Penzance, St Ives and Truro. This proposed expansion programme could boost Travelodge’s portfolio to 15 hotels in Cornwall and create around 160 new jobs.”
