Island Helicopters will fly on Monday as planned

The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group has confirmed that its new helicopter service will launch on Monday as scheduled.

The company said in a statement that "discussions with the relevant authorities will continue" but will not affect Monday's flights.

The statement follows yesterday's announcement by the Council of the Isles of Scilly that it had suspended the Island Helicopters operation in order to "responsibly deal with the requirements of and to ensure compliance with the Conservation of Species and Habitats Regulations 2017".

The ISSG said today: "Anyone due to fly is asked to proceed with the travel arrangements they have made and present themselves at Land’s End and St Mary’s Airports as planned.

"Discussions with the relevant authorities will continue, but these will not affect the helicopter’s flights on Monday."

Steamship Company Chairman Andrew May added: “I would like to thank everyone on our first flights for their patience and understanding and I am sorry they were subjected to unnecessary uncertainty, which was for reasons that were outside our control. We very much look forward to welcoming them on Monday.”
