Scilly Laughs confirms June lineup

The Scilly Laughs Comedy Festival has confirmed the lineup for its June visit to the islands.

The show, billed as "the most South Westerly comedy festival in the UK", will kick off on St Mary's, followed by Tresco, St Martin's and St Agnes on subsequent nights.

This year's lineup, described as "the best of the comedy circuit", consists of Nick Doody, Kirsty Newton and Steve Best, with Julie Jepson returning as compere.

Nick Doody supported Dave Gorman on tour in 2016 and has more recently co-hosted a show with Rich Hall about American politics on Radio 4. Kirsty Newton is described as a 'multi-instrumentalist human jukebox, musical director, arranger, singer, songwriter, MC and comedy performer', while Steve Best is 'a great visual comic, harnessing a mind-boggling array of gadgets and gags to keep his audience in stitches'. He has supported tours by Frank Skinner, Omid Djalili and Craig Charles.

Compere Julie Jepson (above) also confirmed on Twitter that the troupe will once more raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance, writing: "We are delighted to once again announce the wonderful folks @cornwallairamb will be our chosen charity for all the raffle money from our shows this June!"

Last year's shows garnered £423.55 from donations to Cornwall Air Ambulance, which was added to the more than £1,000 raised during the event's first two years.
