Islanders to help 'shape Steamship Group future'
Islanders have been invited to share their views as part of a new Isles of Scilly Steamship Group forum.
The Steamship Advisory Board (SAB) will consist of eight or more members and will act as a forum "in which the Group can discuss its services, performance and planned projects, as well as a place to build deeper understanding and trust with service users".
Permanent residents of the islands are now invited to register an interest to join the SAB.
The ISSG said in a statement that joining the Steamship Advisory Board is "an opportunity for community members to be closer to crucial decision-making processes, to reflect on all aspects of customer experience, and to contribute feedback".
New members will be considered annually, with a proportion of the incumbent membership able to stand for reappointment.
Isles of Scilly Steamship Group chairman Andrew May said: “The Steamship Advisory Board is a great opportunity for the Group and the community to come together and hold honest and open discussions about projects, services, the Group’s performance, and any other issues as they arise.
“We truly value the feedback and contributions of the islanders who most regularly use our services, and want to ensure they have an even stronger voice in helping to shape decisions and changes that could benefit them, and the wider community, directly.
“I would encourage any island residents who are interested in finding out more to register their interest in the SAB.”
