New barber shop to open on St Mary's

A new barber shop and treatment room is coming to St Mary's next year.

Rosanna Hogan, who owns Cut Loose hair salon on The Strand, hopes to launch Unit 2 in February.

The new venture is named after its address at Unit 2 Gleaner House, which was previously leased by Scilly Now & Then magazine.

Rosanna wrote on Facebook: "I’ve wanted to have the opportunity to expand for a very long time... and finally it’s happened!

"Our barber shop is going to be traditional but edgy - a back in time feel.... I’m so excited about this as it’s been months in the making."

She revealed that she and stylist Gemma are doing an advanced barbering 'Fades and Blades' course next month.

Meanwhile, the treatment room, which will be open at separate times to the barbers, is "about privacy and truly relaxed pampering".

Cut Loose will remain open as usual, while a fourth member of staff will join the team next summer and other therapists and professionals are welcome to use the space.

Rosanna said she wanted to bring something new to the islands, adding to This is Scilly News that she "may not get there straight away, but by the summer I’m hoping to establish what I really envisage".

She also thanked Cut Loose clients for being so supportive, as well as her colleagues for visualising her goal.

Unit 2 is located between Becky's Scilly Cakes and Healthwatch opposite the library on St Mary's.
