Council to charge for airport parking
The Council is to start charging for parking at the airport by the end of the year.
Speaking at the recent public meeting on St Mary's, Senior Manager for Infrastructure & Planning Craig Dryden said that a ticket machine is on its way.
The idea was agreed by the previous Council to bring in additional income for the airport.
Craig said: "We have the ticket machine arriving as we speak. We will be hoping to implement car park charges by the back end of this year. So we're on the case."
The ticket machine will take card payments as well as cash.
Cllr Joel Williams said that he does not consider the policy contentious as "I can't think of an airport that doesn't charge for parking". He added that a van has been parked at the airport for months.
Craig said: "We've clocked that and are on the case as well."
