October Council meeting cancelled

This month's meeting of the Council of the Isles of Scilly has been canceled.

Council Chairman Ted Moulson said that there was not enough to discuss to justify a meeting until next month.

He told This is Scilly News: "The meeting has been pulled simply because there is very little on the agenda, and nothing requiring urgent decisions. I therefore felt it would be better to save time and money to defer the few items until the November meeting.

"We expected this situation to arise, when we went from four meetings per year to 12. We anticipated being able to make a few savings for the Council should there be a very light agenda, some months."

Members were due to meet on October 19th.

Public meetings will be held across the islands later this month as follows:

ST MARTINS 2pm to 3pm Monday October 16th St Martins Island Hall (reading room)

ST AGNES 3pm to 4pm Tuesday October 17th St Agnes Island Hall

BRYHER 2pm to 3pm Wednesday October 18th Bryher Community Centre

ST MARY'S 6pm to 7:30pm Thursday October 19th Wesleyan Chapel

TRESCO To be confirmed...
