Kernow King: 'I love every inch of Scilly'

Scilly regular Kernow King, who is performing on St Mary's on Bank Holiday Monday, has said he loves "every inch" of the islands.

The Cornish comedian will entertain locals and visitors free of charge on Holgate's Green after the Red Arrows aerobatic display on August 28th.

He told This is Scilly: "I love Scilly, every inch of her. I don't know anywhere like it.

"My favourite bits are The Mermaid, getting picked up by Jock [MacDonald] and a little beach north of Juliet's Garden whose name I don't know."

Kernow King, real name Edward Rowe, said he will be heading to the islands with his children and then plans to "hoss it down for the Red Arrows" before performing an exclusive set between 5.45 and 7pm.

Holgate's Green will also have stalls, a hog roast barbecue and an outdoor bar from 12.30 - 7pm, along with live music from 1 - 2pm and 4 - 5.30pm.

The Red Arrows will take to the sky between 3 and 3.30pm.

Meanwhile, Tresco will host a 'Great British Picnic' on Bathinghouse Porth (near Carn Near). Guests will be able to purchase picnic items from Tresco Stores including a selection of sandwiches to pre-order which will be delivered to the beach on the day. Picnic blankets and parasols will be laid out.

St Martins hold its annual Fete tomorrow (August 20th), while the Garrison Sports & Music Festival takes place on St Mary's next Sunday (August 27th).
