Falmouth, Caradon crowned gig rowing world champions


Falmouth and Caradon are the winners of the 2017 World Pilot Gig Championships on the Isles of Scilly.

The Black Rock crew finished first in the men's final for the seventh year running, while the Ann Glanville crew won the women's race.

Local gig Emma Louise from St Mary's was third in the women's final, behind Troy from Fowey, with second and third in the men's race going to Talisman from Looe and Ann Glanville from Caradon.

Friday's Supervets races were won by Kensa from Mounts Bay (women) and Helford from Helford River (men).

The Veterans winners were Zeeheld from Scheveningsche Roeivereeniging in the Netherlands (women) and Ann Glanville from Caradon (men).
